Watch Patricia Palmietto, 2011 graduate of Excelsior College, talk about how she earned her associate of science degree in nursing.

Absolutely go back to school. Everybody's pushing for higher degrees. They want you to have a degree to even look at you. I'm currently right now in the RN to master's program, because I want to do more with my nursing career. With Excelsior's testing, I could actually stop what I was doing, and tend to my other duties without any type of repercussions. What's been the biggest moment go far? I think meeting all of the different students, and hearing how they got through the program. Isn't it amazing-- You can study this anywhere. You can study it in a car, in an airport, and on break at lunch, at night when you can't sleep. There are several ways you can contact classmates, and there's a facilitated chat that you can go to where the teachers can kind of help you, and see if you're on the right path. It's kind of like a big student union. So you can actually get out there, and people that have already taken it, they will help you through it and say, these are the areas you need to concentrate on. These are the areas that you need to be sure you know. My method of studying was that I would take the practice exam before I even started studying to see what I already thought I knew. If you get your ADN from Excelsior, you don't have to take the extra classes. You can literally stop at confer your BSN, and then continue on with your MSN. With Excelsior, you control how fast you do it. You control how much of it you do, and it's not in anybody else's hands. It's all in your hands. Ready to be done. I got homework due tomorrow. [LAUGHTER]
